Senior Estimator

Position Summary:

The Senior Estimator is responsible for developing accurate and timely proposals and estimates for projects to ensure that V.S. is a responsive bidder. Works with our staff in the development of a multidisciplinary estimate and works independently on projects of a higher scope and complexity. The Estimator will be responsible for the project budget must have familiarity with Federal and City bidding procedures.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Extensive previous work experience with a general contractor.

• Previous experience in pre-construction

• Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred 

• 5 years of experience with a college degree or 10 years of experience 

• Reviews project plans, requirements, and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project and develop scope of work, labor and equipment costs. 

• Prepares quantity takeoffs and pricing of scope either through self-perform production-based estimate or unit price estimating. 

• Reviews and understands all bid documents and material requirements to assess constructability and product material requirements. 

• Initiates subcontractor solicitations and quality discussions with subcontractors to gain detailed knowledge of portion of work for which the Estimator is responsible. 

• Prepares bid packages; involves comparison and analysis of competitive subcontractor and supplier bids.

• Analyzes subcontractor bonding capabilities, workload and prior performance relative to project. 

• Prepares estimates according to the requirements of multiple delivery systems. Reviews quotes and estimates with the project management team. 

• Assists with certain post-bid buyouts 

• Initiates and participates in meet and greet presentations with subcontractors and suppliers. 

• Comprehends contract requirements for diversity compliance. 

• Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred 

• Extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and engineering principles • Able to work independently without much supervision and work well with a team 

• Engages and coordinates with Lead Estimator on the bid. 

• Understands Costs and Market Conditions. 

• Takes accountability for delivering on commitments. 

• Identifies and understands differences in subcontractor quotations. 

• Looks to continually improve and grow. 

• Accurately estimates time required to complete actions and activities. 

• Accurately interprets written information associated with projects.

• Advanced computer skills with estimating software 

• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced, changing environment

• Some travel is required for projects that are bidding in different regions. 


Lead Carpenter

Position Summary:

Responsible for building, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ability to estimate height, width, length, and other proportions

  • Skilled Carpenter with over 5 years of experience

  • Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors

  • Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall

  • Utilize chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures

  • Ability to join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives

  • Work on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of buildings

  • Check work along the way to ensure it's up to code and specifications

  • Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure everything is level and secure

  • Build stairs, mantles, and furniture

  • Install cabinets and molding

  • Create structures for pouring concrete

  • Erect scaffolding

  • Build tunnel bracing

  • Build concrete forms

  • Replace panes of glass, ceiling tiles, and doors

  • Repair or build furniture

  • Install partitions, doors, and windows

  • Move and install machinery

Responsibilities for Office Assistant

  • Greet visitors in a professional manner

  • Cold calling prospective clients

  • Paying invoices, vendors, and office expenses

  • Run errands for the CEO of the company

  • Coordinating, scheduling appointments, meetings and maintaining office calender

  • Answer phone calls and direct callers to the appropriate party

  • Data entry into Red Team, Excel and QuickBooks

  • Process, sort, and route incoming and outgoing mail

  • Monitor and manage inventory of office supplies; order and distribute office supplies as necessary

  • Clean and organize office

  • Assist with project estimates and bids

  • Send out email followups, schedule walk throughs

  • Perform other administrative support tasks, including updating and sorting files, drafting and proofreading correspondence, and conducting research

Qualifications for Office Assistant

  • Must have a High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required an associate's degree preferred

  • Must have their own reliable transportation

  • Previous experience in construction or project management is a PLUS

  • Must have 3-5 years of relevant experience in an office setting, preferably in an administrative or clerical role

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and comfortable working independently

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including strong spelling, grammar, and punctuation

  • Must be committed to providing outstanding customer service and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Knowledge of MS Office and Excel

  • Proficient computer skills and ability to operate general office equipment

  • Knowledge of social media apps and task software

  • Must pass a background check
